Vitoria de Guimaraes strengthens its attack with the signing of Portuguese international Nélson Oliveira, who returns to the club after nine and a half seasons playing abroad. Nélson Oliveira, from Barcelos, is 32 years old and has two goals and 17 international appearances for the Portuguese national team. He has previously represented Benfica, during the 2011/12 and 2014/15 seasons, Rio Ave, in the 2009/10 season, and Paços de Ferreira, in the 2010/11 season, always on loan from the "águias". The forward confessed, in statements to the Vitoria de Guimaraes channels, to have "a hunger to play well" in the I Liga, to score goals and to win. "I have a lot of desire to score goals, but I would be lying if I said that goals are everything. Obviously they are important, but I think the function of a forward is much more complete and much more extensive than just scoring goals. I consider that the most important thing is to win", he highlighted. Vitoria de Guimaraes is a team "with confidence", that "values the collective" and plays "a fast, vertiginous and with a lot of bite" football. Nélson Oliveira recognized that "it won't be easy" to play for the fifth-placed team in the Portuguese I Liga, but is eager to contribute to the club's success.
