Vitoria de Guimaraes president António Miguel Cardoso has stepped down as president of the club after the team failed to qualify for the top five in the Primeira Liga. Cardoso was elected president in March 2022 and re-elected in March 2025. He said he would leave the position if the team failed to qualify for the top five. The Vitoria currently occupies the ninth place in the league, with 36 points, 11 points behind the fifth-placed Famalicão, with five games remaining in the championship. Cardoso promised to continue working until the transition of the board and rejected any support for any candidate in the next election. He said that his passion and love for the club will remain forever.
